Rose Courtney was the civilian servant for Lt. George Wallace. Wallace was later killed at Wounded Knee. Courtney was the widow of a soldier and was given a cabin to live in for the rest of her life. On the night she moved in the cabin burned, killing Courtney. Her obituary appeared in the Sturgis Weekly Record of November 29, 1907.
