Cicindela nebraskana occurs in western South Dakota in grassland habitats. This species prefers dry grasslands with sparse ground cover. In the Black Hills region, apparent intergrades with C. longilabris occur. A typical C. nebraskana is entirely black and immaculate. Intergrades have a bluish ventral color and/or light colored labrum. A spring-fall species, C. nebraskana is more abundant in the spring, when it appears in late April and early May. The record from eastern South Dakota is questionable.
