Cicindela longilabrus is closely related to C. nebraskana and the two species are very similar. However, C. longilabrus is a boreal species and in South Dakota is found only in the higher elevations of the Black Hills. The Black Hills population is probably disjunct. C. longilabrus typically is black with slight maculation and a bluish venter. The labrum is cream colored. Apparent intergrades occur at lower elevations. The Bennett County record is probably a misidentification or a dispersing individual that was fortuitously collected.
