Cicindela repanda is one of the most common tiger beetles in South Dakota. This species is found along streams, rivers, lake shores, and sometimes in drier habitats such as sand dunes. When present it is usually abundant. Some specimens can be confused with C. duodecimguttata, but C. repanda usually has a complete marginal band that connects with the humeral lunule. Although C. repanda is a spring-fall species, is can be found during any of the warmer months of the year. It is one of the earliest species to emerge in the spring.
