Cicindela fulgida is a common species in its preferred habitat of alkaline wetland shorelines and alkaline soils, such as the Permian Redbeds around the periphery of the Black Hills. This species is also common in alkaline, sandy deposits in the northwest portions of the state. This species is always shiny and sometimes brilliant red but color varies to a reddish-brown. A spring-fall species, it can sometimes be collected in midsummer as well.
