Long-eared Owls at Nests
There are two long-eared owl nests not more than 100 yards apart near Oahe Dam. Today, May 8, 2004, I found one nest with at least 2 owlets still in the nest and one very irate adult owl. I quickly left the first nest area to check on the second nest. There, two owlets were out of the nest and two were still in the nest. The second nest is in a platform I put in this cedar tree for long-eared owls about 10 years ago but this is the first year long-eared owls have used it.
