Nicrophorus americanus The American Burying Beetle
Since 1996 Gary Marrone and I have been monitoring a population of the endangered American burying beetle in Tripp and Gregory counties of South Dakota. We use pitfall traps baited with rotten meat to attract the beetles. For more information on burying beetles go to Nicrophorus Central.
